Situated only 3 miles south of the Scottish Border in North Northumberland, Berwick has to be the ideal car-free destination, accessible by train and bus, and a springboard for long distance walking and cycling routes. Virgin Trains East Coast operate on the East Coast Mainline linking Aberdeen, Edinburgh and London. Cross Country Trains connect Scotland, the North-East and the South-West of England. Both companies operate regular trains calling at Berwick and services from Edinburgh and Newcastle are hourly taking just 45 minutes. Trains from London Kings Cross take approx. 3hrs 30 minutes.

The bus service to Holy Island from Berwick runs on most Wednesdays and Saturdays through the winter, increasing to a daily service during Easter School Holidays and during the Summer months, for times please check Border Buses website.
Berwick lies immediately adjacent to the A1 and sits midway between Newcastle and Edinburgh. Both cities are just over 65 miles away and driving from either one will take a little over an hour.
Newcastle and Edinburgh Airports are well served by a range of airlines including a number of low cost operators. Newcastle airport has a direct metro connection to the city centre and train station while Edinburgh Airport has a regular shuttle bus service to the city centre and Waverley Station.
