Summer 2018 - What's on

Berwick-upon-Tweed plays host to many annual events during the Summer months. The Summer season kicks off in June each year with Spittal Gala Weekend.

July sees the annual Curfew Run in Berwick, where entrants of all ages run around the Elizabethan Walls while the curfew bell tolls. This busy month continues with the Tweedmouth Feast and the Crowning of the Salmon Queen and the Mouth of the Tweed Festival. There is also the Music at Paxton festival which takes place just outside Berwick-upon-Tweed.

August begins with the Minden Day Parade, commemorating the King's Own Scottish Borderer's part in the Battle of Minden (1759). We return to family fun events at the Seaside Festival in August.

There are exhibitions taking place throughout the Summer at the Gymnasium Gallery and Berwick Museum and Art Gallery within the Barracks. For theatre, cinema, comedy and live music events, the Maltings Arts Centre is the premier venue in North Northumberland.

There are car Boot sales in Castlegate car park every Sunday (May-Sept) and on Tweedside Trading Estate, as well as the twice-weekly Street Markets held on Marygate and the Buttermarket (under the Town Hall).

For spectators sporting events visit Shielfield Park (Tweedmouth), home to Berwick Rangers Football Club and Berwick Bandits Speedway. If you would like to participate in some physical activities and events, go to the Swan Leisure Centre and Swimming Pool, also in Tweedmouth.
